3S Industries AG inaugurates the 3S Industries Service & Technology Center in Freiburg
Lyss, 26 March 2009. On 26.03.2009 the new Service & Technology Center of 3S Industries AG in Freiburg was opened with a celebration. The technologies of the 3S Group are presented on a total of 1,500 m² in a highly modern building. 3S offers in its new Service & Technology Center a broad spectrum of services such as the pilot assembly and certification of modules and training seminars tailored individually to the needs of customers.
With inauguration of the second, complete, semi-automatic production line, the Group now has a further center for the development of production technologies in stringing, laminating and testing. With immediate effect, 3S now offers its customers, as it has done for several months in Lyss (CH), comprehensive services in Freiburg such as technical support, training courses as well as various production and material tests.
The following services are provided at the new Service & Technology Center:
Service and technical support
Qualified service engineers support customers of 3S by telephone and on location. The production line in Freiburg is perfectly suited for the provision of quick assistance attuned to practice.
Development of production technologies
At the Service & Technology Center, 3S, together with its customers, tests new cells, soldering bands, EVA foils, backing foils, glass plates and liquids. This means that the customers' production equipment, attuned to high production volumes, does not have to be refitted and blocked for time-consuming tests.
Pilot assembly and certification of modules
A further function of the Service & Technology Center is that 3S carries out pilot assemblies and certifications for its customers. Pilot assembly serves for the manufacture of sample modules which the customer needs for expansion of its sales. Certification, which is handled at the same time as development of the production line, enables the buyer of a 3S production line to achieve a time advantage of six months or more. The certification process for the customer's modules usually takes several months, and the customer can only initiate it once the new production line has been commissioned. But not with 3S, which certifies the modules at the Service & Technology Center before the production line is installed in the customer's premises.
Training
The know-how for service, development and training concentrated at the Service & Technology Center enables practice-oriented training for maintenance and solutions to problems. 3S engineers train the customer's operating and maintenance personnel at the running production line. Parallel to the practical training, modern schooling rooms enable the efficient transfer of theoretical know-how.

In the field of laminating, 3S Swiss Solar Systems has been the world's technological market leader for years. In 2007, today's 3S Industries acquired a further key technology with Pasan SA, the leading producer of module testers. With the acquisition of Somont in 2008, the Group has continued its strategy of expansion and added in the sector of automatic string soldering the missing element in the value-creation chain of solar module production.
The three companies operate independently of each other in the market, each focused on one of the three key technologies. Furthermore, 3S Swiss Solar Systems integrates this production equipment in turnkey production lines. 3S Swiss Solar Systems is also a producer of solar modules and plans and develops building-integrated solar systems.
